Carbon Capture and Storage has been proposed as a way to reduce greenhouse gases and slow down global warming, but are there other strategies that could be more effective?

Carbon capture and storage is one of the most significant reduction strategies! It could possibly revolutionize our energy industry and how we approach future environmental issues.
Carbon capture and storage could reduce emissions from power stations by 80% to 90% and stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere.
Many CCS techniques already exist today, but they are far from being optimized, they are still in the research phase.
If governments rapidly adopt climate change policies to put a cost on emitting CO2, companies will have an incentive to invest more in CCS research and get relevant results faster.

Carbon capture is one of the technologies being developed to counter global warming.
However, I think one of the biggest questions is whether the stored CO2 can be retained for long periods. There has not been enough research to conclude that storing CO2 will be safe in the long term.
Moreover, CCS technology could be deployed by 2015 on a broader scale if these demonstration projects deliver good results but environmental conditions are evolving faster than it was planned and we have to find immediate solutions.
In my opinion, we are not exploring all of our options, such as solar and wind power. We need to find a way to decrease the world's oil dependence and use natural renewable...
