Paal Frisvold

Paal Frisvold has worked for Bellona Europa - the Brussels' representation office of The Bellona Foundation, since 2001. Since then, Paal Frisvold has been part of the Bellona Energy Team whose main focus is to advocate policies and technological solutions to stabilise climate change and acidification of the oceans.

By working closely with industry and government experts, Paal Frisvold and Bellona's Energy team have, as the first step towards establishing a CO2 infrastructure, contributed to developing a strategy for creating a profitable value chain for CO2. In the endeavour to create political, commercial and public acceptance of CCS at European level, Frisvold has been responsible for promoting Bellona's work to the EU institutions as well as the energy and environment policy circles in Brussels. Frisvold was co-chair of Working Group 5 on Infrastructure and Environment, under the European Technology Platform on Zero Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plants (ZEP) and is currently Co-chairing the Task force on Policy and Regulation.

Prior to joining Bellona, Frisvold worked at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels as head of the EFTA Secretary General's private office and Secretary to the Standing Committee of the EFTA States and the EEA Joint Committee. He has also worked four years as Director of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OCED, responsible for advocating industry views to OECD environmental and economic policies. Frisvold frequently speaks and debates on EU policy issues in Brussels and in Norway

Frisvold holds a Master degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Bachelor Degree in Political Science from The American University of Paris where he is currently a Member of the Board of Trustees. Frisvold is trilingual in English, French and Norwegian.
