Andrew Paterson
Andrew directs the Plant Genome Mapping Laboratory, a cross-college unit at the Univ GA (USA) that uses genomics to study plant evolution and crop improvement. He led sequencing and analysis of the genome of sorghum, a botanical model for the Saccharinae clade of grasses that includes leading biofuels crops. He was previously on the faculty of Texas A&M University, and worked in Agricultural Biotechnology at DuPont in Wilmington, DE. His 210+ scientific publications and three books on sorghum, cotton, sugarcane, Brassica, peanut, Bermuda grass, Miscanthus, switchgrass and other plants have contributed to knowledge of crop improvement, botanical diversity, and plant evolution.
