Zamir Dedej
Zamir Dedej, born on 4 August 1966 in Tirana, is graduated as biologist at the University of Tirana in 1989, having a Master degree in 1998 and a PhD for marine botany (“Phytoplankton in the Albanian coast”) in the year 2006. He worked at the Albanian Academy of Science as a marine biologist until 1998 (with work experiences in Italy and Venice) and after he was appointed as the Director of the Nature Protection at the National Environmental Agency (today the Ministry of Environment), a duty that was covering until September 2007. From January 2007 until now is directing an NGO named “Institute of Nature Protection in Albania-INCA).
During this period he has good international experiences, including his appointment as the Chairman of the Committee for the Biological Diversity and Landscape (CO-DBP) of the Council of Europe (2005-2007) and member of the Bureau of the CBD COP (2004-2006). He was Ministry Focal Point for the main convections and protocols regarding nature protection (CBD, Ramsar, Bern Convention, RAC/SPA of UNEP/MAP, etc) participating in a lot of conferences, workshops, etc. Actually he is member of the Scientific Council for the European Centre of Nature Conservation – ECNC (2009-2011).
