Mark J Skowronski

Mark J. Skowronski is a co-founder and principal of Markron Technologies LLC and is responsible for the technical development and guidance of the Company. At Markron, he was the developer of three primary methods for integrating solar energy into the three traditional methods of generating electricity: simple cycle CT, combined cycle and the Rankine cycle. He believes that solar integration into existing commercial power plants provides a more rapid and economical method of utilizing solar energy when compared to solar standalone systems. As the Chief Technology Officer for Markron, he has evaluated nearly all of the coal plants in the western United States for potential integration with solar energy.

Prior to co-founding Markron, Mr. Skowronski had a distinguish career at Southern California Edison rising to the top tier in the technical area with emphasis on solar and other forms of renewable energy. After 27 years, Mr. Skowronski left Edison with the title of “Consulting Engineer”, one of only 12 engineers out of over 700 to achieve that distinction. He is the holder of five patents with three more currently being reviewed and processed by the US patent office. Mr. Skowronski was the Project Director for the Solar Two Project that, at the time (~1990) was the world’s largest solar central receiver. At Edison, his career focused on new energy technologies from both a technical and economic perspective and evaluation of these technologies for near term deployment. He also has extensive background in traditional energy technologies such as coal, nuclear, combined cycle, simple cycle CT and distributed generation. After Edison, Mr. Skowronski performed consulting work for the state of California and was one of the 12 negotiators for the $40 Billion contract package signed to end the California 2002-2003 energy crisis. He then joined Solargenix (now part of Acciona) and was responsible for developing the market for large scale solar thermal technologies in the western United States. In this capacity he worked closely with other utilities to meet their solar needs. Mr. Skowronski has a BS Degree in Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and is a registered Mechanical Engineer in the state of California.
